McKissack & McKissack's Washington, D.C. office has an immediate opening for a Human Resources (HR) Manager. The HR Manager will report to the President & CEO and be a high-performing member of the leadership team. The HR Manager will contribute to meeting the firm’s strategy while owning the future state of HR at McKissack & McKissack. The selected candidate will demonstrate thoughtful strategic action and leadership, build a high-performance HR organization, and ensure that tactical HR requirements are managed efficiently.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Interpret business strategy and partner with leadership to establish relevant HR goals and objectives
• Design and deliver HR best practice policies, programs, and processes that meet the firm’s current demands, can be scaled for future growth, enable effective organizational performance, and meet or exceed industry standards
• Constantly review HR systems for opportunities to streamline processes, present data and analytical tools that are useful to managers, and maximize the value of the firm’s technology investments and resources
• Develop benefits strategies that deliver best in class programs to staff, and are fiscally sound for the firm
• Act as a consultant to the senior leadership team on HR matters, employee relations, and drive the understanding of how HR can impact the bottom line
• Utilize strategic thinking in areas such as; talent acquisition and management, performance management, organizational development, and change management
• Deliver compensation and career ladder strategies that ensure a realistic salary structure, has flexibility to reward high performers, and demonstrates clear paths for growth and development
• Serve as the firm's Risk Manager in matters of HR compliance with State and Federal laws
• Develop and manage the annual HR budget

What We Are Looking For:

• Ten years or more as a proven HR leader with demonstrated knowledge in the HR disciplines highlighted above
• BS/BA in a related field - SPHR certification is highly desirable
• Ability to operate in a matrix organization by working in collaboration with leaders to meet the firm’s strategic goals
• Strong technical skills in HR systems with the ability to adapt and change these systems as appropriate with the firm’s goals and to enhance staff performance
• Demonstrated business acumen, ability to translate business challenges and goals into successful HR actions
• Communication skills that convey HR’s message in a clear and compelling manner
• Builds solid partnerships and relationships across the firm by acting in a confident and capable manner
• A trusted advisor – someone who is sought out for advice, guidance and coaching on a variety of topics
