Project Accountant

Your Role:

McKissack & McKissack’s Washington, DC office has an immediate opening fora Project Accountant to join our expanding team. As a Project Accountant, you will be responsible for accounts receivables, billing, account reconciliations, and analysis.  

Your Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit invoices for government and commercial customers in compliance with contractual and FAR regulations for all contract types
  • Analyze revenue reports during invoicing process
  • Assist in other AR areas such as cash applications and final close outs
  • Communicate with Project Managers, vendors and external parties to manage requests/requirements  
  • Perform/review bank account reconciliations  
  • Assist with project balance sheet reconciliations and other monthly internal management reports  
  • Conduct general accounting, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, job costs and general ledger posting  
  • Process accounts payable from invoice to payment, beginning with coding invoices to the appropriate cost code and GL account number and distribute to Project Managers for approval  
  • Reconcile vendor statements and payments  
  • Maintain lien waivers and verify subcontractor insurance  
  • Conduct job cost tracking, analysis and reporting  
  • Enter project setup sheets and maintain filing system for projects  
  • Interface with Project Managers and senior management on all aspects of construction accounting

Your Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience
  • 2-3 years of accounting experience in A/E Industry (preferred)
  • Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software (Deltek Accounting Software; Deltek Vision preferred)
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Experience with multi-tasking a high-volume work load
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
