Wastewater Engineer

Our Washington, DC office has an immediate opening for a Water/Wastewater Engineer. You will be an essential member of our growing team by transforming our client’s vision into a strategy, converting that strategy into a plan, and moving quickly into executable action.

Your Role (High level):

Serve as the responsible engineer on water and sewer projects (from initial planning/design through construction) for large municipal clients (both local agencies AND private). Apply working knowledge of water/wastewater technical knowledge to develop solutions to routine engineering problems ranging in complexity.

Reporting To: Lead Civil Engineer

Where You Work: Hybrid (client site and remote)


Your Role (Responsibilities):

· Complete preliminary and detailed engineering design and associated documents on a variety of water, wastewater, stormwater, and water reuse treatment and collection and distribution projects

· Perform preliminary engineering by analyzing data, performing design calculations in accordance with regulatory requirements and guidelines and evaluating options to develop the best solution

· Prepare planning and design documents, cost estimates, calculations, project drawings, and technical specifications in coordination with project managers, project engineers, CAD staff and other disciplines

· Conform to client and company standards for document and drawing preparation

· Conduct internal coordination meetings and provide substantial support for client meetings

· Work with team to ensure deliverables are executed with technical accuracy, on time and within budget

· Ensure formal QA/QC reviews are performed for each assigned project

· Assist with various construction phase office support activities including review of RFI’s and submittals, and participate in field work including construction observation activities

What We NEED You to Have:

· Minimum 5 years’ of project experience for municipal and/or private development related to design and design review of water/wastewater, storm, and recycled water systems

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) in DC, MD, or VA.
  • Understanding or ability to gain knowledge of various local codes (MD, DC and VA) and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in technical report writing (part of previous responsibilities).
  • Minimum 1 year experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D
  • Advanced level of knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
