Shandra Colón is the Vice President of Business Development for McKissack & McKissack, providing strategic market & teaming strategies for the Texas & the Midwest markets. Shandra began her career over 20 years ago as a business development & leadership professional, with a focus in real estate, leadership, and small business growth strategy. She was able to combine her above expertise in real estate with construction, to build strategic growth across Texas with a focus on building strong Minority prime lead teams. A Dallas, TX native, Shandra has always been an advocate for equity and inclusion after witnessing the disparities amongst minorities & systematic oppression while growing up & working in Dallas, Texas. In 2017, she joined forces with the Regional Black Contractor’s Association to advocate on behalf of African American Contractors, Engineers, and Architects, to ensure fairness in the process of procuring contract opportunities in the public & private sector. Shandra is passionate about community, diversity, equity and inclusion. While serving at the RBCA, she created workshop series and programs to enhance and grow minority businesses in the A.E.C. industry with several public sector entities. Shandra served on the Board of Directors as Vice Chairwoman of the RBCA, Vice Chairwoman of the National Association of Minority Contractor’, and the Committee Chair of Economic Development for the Collin County Black Chamber.
