The O’Hare Modernization Program is one of the largest construction projects in Chicago’s history and will expand the airport in two phases.
McKissack provides a variety of services to O’Hare International Airport. Representative projects include: four new runways and the extension of two runways, each with runway safety areas, three new bridges, two new air traffic control towers, new and improved track system for the Union Pacific Railroad, new multipurpose economy parking structure, expansion of the Airport Transit System, and road and stormwater systems construction and an 80-foot deep retention pond. Once completed, the expansion will reduce delays by 79% and transform the airfield from a system of intersecting runways into a modern parallel runway configuration. McKissack, as a joint venture partner to the Project Management Office, is responsible for design and implementation of the Program Scheduling Management.
