Senior Project Manager

McKissack & McKissack supports multiple education organizations as an owner’s representative on design and construction programs. This position would be supporting the US Virgin Islands Department of Education as the owner’s representative across a $3.5B FEMA funded program, expected to replace or modernize approximately 15 school facilities across the three US Virgin Islands: St. Thomas, St. Croix, and St. John, over the next ten years. As needed, this position may support other K-12 clients as well.

Role Description

The Senior Project Manager will serve as the project lead for one or multiple projects ranging from $50M to over $300M each. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading the owner’s representative/project management team in the planning, coordination, and execution of the design and construction of new and/or renovated school projects. This role requires a candidate with strong communication skills, technical expertise, and proven experience working closely with clients, project managers, general contractors, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Reporting To: Project Executive

Location: United States Virgin Islands

Salary range: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong working relationships with client points of contact, government agencies, contractors and consultants.
  • Support extensively in pre-construction coordination with design reviews, value engineering sessions, permitting processes, community engagement meetings, etc.
  • Assist in the review of project schedules, budgets, and cost estimates.
  • Interact daily with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements and consistently represent the Owner’s interest in meetings and in the field.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status.
  • Prepare and submit project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during design or construction.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with owners’ policies, procedures, and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management or a similar role/experience.
  • Experience working with K-12 schools projects
  • Strong knowledge of design and construction process, methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Specifically working on the owners rep side
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and multi-faceted team environment.

Skills and Competencies

•Professional Engineer (PE) license or other relevant certifications is a plus.

• Experience with projects using federal funding is a plus
