McKissack & McKissack provided construction inspection for citywide roadway projects and helped manage the entire Chicago streetscape improvement program using the city’s labor force.
The scope of the project included storm sewer improvements and the replacement of concrete and asphalt roadways, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. The project also modified 1,900 curbs to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. Services included overall construction document and design review, estimating quantities and costs, construction phasing and utility coordination, maintenance of traffic and inspection to ensure compliance with Chicago and U.S. Department of Transportation standards and requirements. The firm maintained all records and provided complete documentation for the program.
