Lisa Anders, the project’s Senior Project Manager, also assisted with the tour. Ms. McKissack's firm was awarded the project just after the design was chosen. Her firm did the architecture, site design, supervised the sculptor, transported and reassembled the 159 piece statue and planted cherry trees. The cherry trees will bloom each year on the anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s death, marking a reawakening. The memorial is situated on the Tidal Basin and overlooks the Jefferson Memorial. Ms. McKissack and Ms. Anders were featured in an IWF online video shot during the tour of the memorial.
