McCormick Place West Expansion
As part of a joint venture, McKissack provided construction and project management services for the expansion of McCormick Place, the largest convention center in North America.
In the heart of Chicago’s bustling convention district, the McCormick Place West Expansion stands as a modern marvel of architectural ingenuity. Completed as a major addition to the already expansive McCormick Place complex, the West Building was designed to meet the growing demands of large-scale events. McKissack provided project management, quality control, and inspection services, as a part of the design-build team. The firms’ efforts resulted in the McCormick Place West Expansion of a Skyline Ballroom, the largest in Chicago at 100,000 square feet—which is highly flexible and can host up to 11,500 people. Additionally, the venue includes spacious pre-function areas, a rooftop garden with city views for outdoor events, 470,000 square feet of exhibit space in Hall F, and 61 meeting rooms totaling 250,000 square feet.
