Navy Pier Centennial Vision Projects
McKissack provided owner's representative and construction management services for the Chicago's Navy Pier as a leisure destination
Situated on Chicago’s Lake Michigan shoreline, Navy Pier is a historic 3,300-foot-long landmark built in 1916 that draws 9 million visitors annually. As a multi-use facility, it serves commercial, recreational, and entertainment purposes. The Centennial Vision divides the Pier into distinct exterior areas—collectively called the “Pierscape,” featuring Gateway Park, the Crystal Garden, Pier Park, East End Park, and South Dock—and interior areas such as the Family Pavilion, South Arcade, spaces around the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Festival Hall, and the historic East End buildings.
McKissack provided owner’s representative and construction management services to Navy Pier, Inc. (NPI) for the Centennial Vision redevelopment, a framework plan that outlines NPI’s long-term vision that will guide the redevelopment of the Navy Pier (Pier). Responsibilities included: assisting NPI in the overall management of the construction activities, monitoring the progress and quality of work. In addition, McKissack assisted in reviewing any request for alternates, changes, claims, and proposals received by NPI, as well as prepared recommendations of appropriate action.
