Join McKissack & McKissack's team! Immediate opening for a Director of Business Development in the Washington, D. C. area overseeing the Infrastructure, Institutional and Government Type clients.

The candidate will help develop projects in program management, construction management, architecture, and interior design for Infrastructure, Institutional and Government/public buildings. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan and growth goals for the DMV region, aligned with institutional, public sector, and infrastructure markets.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with owners, public authorities, and utility clients.
  • Research prospective clients to understand business objectives, capital programs, funding sources, and procurement strategies.
  • Track sourcing of opportunities and monitor pursuit activity and project progress across assigned markets.
  • Work with our Marketing and Proposals team to develop and deliver sales, marketing, and pursuit materials, including presentations, qualifications, proposals, and interview strategies.
  • Plan and oversee targeted business development and marketing initiatives within assigned markets and client sectors.
  • Remain actively engaged in the industry by sponsoring, attending, and participating in conferences, professional associations, and client-focused events.
  • Collaborate with project executives, technical leaders, and specialists to assess client needs, position the firm, and co-develop pricing, scope, and proposal strategies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on firm capabilities, staff expertise, delivery approaches, and operational strengths.
  • Align opportunities with company strengths and risk profile to pursue work where McKissack is best positioned for success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Marketing, Finance, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in business development, market leadership, or sales within program management, construction management, architecture, or engineering.

Demonstrated experience working with institutional and public sector clients, such as higher education, K-12, government, justice, healthcare, public buildings, or regulated utilities.

Established network of relationships across the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia region with owners, public agencies, authorities, and industry partners.
Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans that drive sustained revenue growth and long-term client relationships.
Strong communication, research, and strategic analysis skills, with the ability to represent the firm credibly to senior client leadership and internal executives.
Operational or capital program delivery experience, including familiarity with complex procurement environments, funding structures, and risk management practices.

Compensation

Salary range: $150,000 to $185,000/yearly (dependent on years of experience, competency, travel requirements)
