George H.W. Bush Library Marine One Helicopter Pavilion
In anticipation of the delivery of a decommissioned presidential Marine One helicopter, the George H.W. Bush Library Foundation commissioned McKissack to design a pavilion to house the aircraft, associated exhibit space, and a dining and reception venue.
The 20,000 SF facility is an extension of the museum exhibits. As an independent structure located at the shoreline of an existing water feature, the helicopter pavilion is exhibited in a glass enclosed structure which afford views of the aircraft from a variety of perspectives of the campus. The dining and reception component was designed to include extensive first and second floor terraces to take advantage of the lake and the picturesque College Station, Texas landscape.
