Alexandria Renew Enterprises Nitrogen Upgrade Program
McKissack provided construction management and design review services for the Alexandria Renew Enterprises Nitrogen Upgrade Program.
This multi-project initiative was designed to help Alexandria Renew Enterprises (AlexRenew) meet regulatory discharge requirements aimed at reducing nitrogen loadings to the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. The program supported one of the region’s most advanced wastewater treatment facilities, which serves approximately 350,000 residents across a 51-square-mile service area and processes up to 54 million gallons of wastewater per day. McKissack supported delivery from planning through commissioning with constructability and design reviews, site evaluations, inspections, QA/QC oversight, value engineering, submittal and RFI reviews, payment application reviews, startup support, and coordination of facility shutdowns and operational challenges. Through comprehensive construction management and technical oversight, McKissack helped AlexRenew modernize critical treatment infrastructure, enhance operational performance, and support environmental stewardship initiatives that protect the Chesapeake Bay watershed for future generations.
