George H.W. Bush Library Air Force One Hangar

The Bush Library Foundation has commissioned McKissack to design the exhibition hangar and associated exhibit areas for future decommissioned Air Force One.
The two current aircraft in the Air Force One fleet are scheduled to be decommissioned and replaced by the next generation Boeing 747-B. The Current VG-25 entered into service during the George H.W. Bush administration. The Foundation is a potential candidate to acquire one of the current Air Force One aircraft. The VC-25 requires an enclosure of 13 million cubic feet. The hangar will be located adjacent to the library complex on Barbara Bush Drive, and the structural glass facades provides views of the aircraft to and from the library entrance as well as the distant interstate. Once the project is completed, projected visitor frequency will dramatically increase. The new 747-B fleet will be presidential mission-ready by 2024.
