Hyatt Regency McCormick Place Hotel Expansion and Renovation
McKissack was selected as a joint venture to renovate and expand the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place Hotel, a LEED Gold certified 14-story tower hotel.
The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is a contemporary 4-star hotel located in Chicago’s vibrant South Loop neighborhood. Directly connected to McCormick Place, the largest convention center in North America, the hotel is a prime destination for business travelers and event attendees. McKissack oversaw the renovation of significant portions of the existing hotel, including all 800 guest rooms, front lobby enhancements, business center improvements, fitness center upgrades, and renovations to food services areas and meeting rooms, as well as creation of a junior ballroom. McKissack also provided quality assurance/quality control oversight of the development of the hotel’s 14-story guest tower. The tower was part of a major renovation and development effort to enhance the hotel’s appeal with modern and spacious aesthetics. The tower includes 461 guest rooms, along with 12 suites and 2 premium suites, and rises atop an existing parking deck, connected to the hotel by a pedestrian bridge. The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place achieved LEED Gold certification for its 14-story guest tower expansion, which included adding a green roof and improving the McCormick Energy Center. This recognition highlights McKissack’s commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible design
