McKissack was selected to renovate and expand the Hyatt Regency, the hotel serving Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center.
McKissack provided quality assurance/quality control oversight of the 14-story guest tower. The new tower contains approximately 460 rooms and rises atop an existing parking deck, connected to the hotel by a new pedestrian bridge. The project scope also included renovation of significant portions of the existing hotel—including all 800 guest rooms, front lobby enhancements, business center improvements, fitness center upgrades, and renovations to food services areas and meeting rooms—as well as creation of a junior ballroom. The project was designed to achieve LEED Gold certification. Sustainable initiatives included: adding a green roof and improving the McCormick Energy Center.
