Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library (DC Public Library)
McKissack supported the modernization of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library’s second floor.
Designed by modernist architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and designated a historic landmark in 2007, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library is one of Washington, DC’s most significant civic buildings. McKissack provided construction support services for two second-floor improvement projects, the Young Adults and Popular Library space plans. The firm reviewed 60% design development documents, prepared a project cost estimate, and identified cost-saving opportunities to support budget management for the design architect and client. Services were completed while the library remained occupied and operational.
