Union Pacific Bush 4141 Locomotive & Marine One Helicopter Pavillion
McKissack provided architectural and interior design services for the Union Pacific Bush 4141 Locomotive & Marine One Helicopter Pavilion for the George and Barbara Foundation that was completed for the 100th celebration of the President's birthday on June 12, 2024. The Union Pacific Bush 4141 Locomotive was the engine that carried President George H.W. Bush's body following his death, from Houston to his final resting place in College Station, Texas.
Exhibited within this 31,000 SF structure, are the Bush 4141 Locomotive, Marine One Helicopter, and associated exhibits related to the President, the Bush family, the history and relevance of the locomotive, and Union Pacific's participation in the program. In addition to the exhibit space housing the Marine One helicopter and 4141 Locomotive, the pavilion encloses a visitor center including a dining facility, information shop, restrooms, and support spaces. As extensions of existing museum exhibits, this pavilion will provide a dynamic backdrop for outdoor events day or night and will contribute to increased visitor participation.
