Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior relationship manager for utility clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Develop and execute a strategic growth plan for the Electric Infrastructure and Power Delivery sector.
  • Expand Leverage existing industry relationships to generate project opportunities and secure new clients.
  • Leverage existing accounts by introducing additional McKissack services, including program management, project management, construction management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, and owner's representation services.
  • Build long-term relationships with utility executives, capital program leaders, engineering directors, operations leaders, and procurement teams.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities and lead capture planning efforts.
  • Identify teaming partners, subcontractors, and strategic alliances that strengthen McKissack's market position.
  • Lead pursuit strategy, capture planning, proposal development, and client presentations.
  • Represent McKissack at utility industry conferences, association meetings, client events, and networking functions.
  • Monitor market trends, utility capital programs, regulatory initiatives, infrastructure funding programs, grid modernization efforts, and emerging technologies.
  • Serve as a visible industry leader and advocate for McKissack's utility practice.
  • Support recruiting efforts and help build a team of utility-focused project managers and subject matter experts.
  • Act as Executive Sponsor for key utility accounts.
  • Develop account plans outlining growth objectives, client priorities, relationship strategies, and revenue targets.
  • Ensure exceptional client satisfaction and regularly engage with senior client leadership.
  • Coordinate resources across McKissack's regional offices to support client needs.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services geographically and across business units.
  • Provide executive-level guidance and strategic oversight for utility assignments.
  • Support project teams during project startup, major milestone reviews, risk management activities, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure project teams maintain alignment with client expectations and contractual requirements.
  • Transition day-to-day project management responsibilities to delivery teams as accounts mature.
  • Remain involved in executive steering committee meetings and major client decisions

Success Measures:

Revenue growth within the Electric Infrastructure and Power Delivery sector.
New client acquisition and account expansion.
Contract awards and win rates.
Growth of strategic utility relationships.
Client retention and satisfaction.
Expansion of utility services across multiple regions.
Development of a sustainable utility practice with dedicated staff and long-term revenue streams.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Energy Systems, Business, or related field.
10+ years of experience managing electric infrastructure projects, programs, or capital portfolios.
Demonstrated experience with electric transmission, substations, distribution systems, grid modernization, energy delivery infrastructure, renewable energy, or utility capital programs.
Proven track record developing client relationships and generating new business.
Experience working directly with investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities, cooperatives, public utilities, or energy authorities.
Strong understanding of electric utility planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations.
Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Ability to travel extensively throughout the DMV region and periodically to other McKissack offices and client locations nationwide.
Professional Engineer (PE), PMP, CCM, or equivalent industry credential.
Existing relationships with utilities in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, Illinois, Texas, or California. (preferred)
Experience managing utility capital programs exceeding $50 million. (preferred)
Experience leading growth initiatives, developing new markets, or building business units. (preferred)
Demonstrated success growing accounts from initial engagements into long-term strategic partnerships. (preferred)
Experience utilizing the following applications: Work Planning Tool (WPT), Asset Suite 8 (AS8), Unifier. (preferred)

Compensation

Salary range: $225,000 - $275,000/yearly (dependent on years of experience, competency, travel requirements)
