Audi Field DC United Soccer Stadium Infrastructure

McKissack & McKissack played a key leadership role in the team responsible for infrastructure development in preparation for Audi Field, the new Major League Soccer stadium for DC United.
Situated on Buzzard Point at Capitol Riverfront, Audi Field seats 20,000 fans. The world-class stadium site consists of 500,000 SF of mixed-use retail and residential space, and hosts a variety of sporting, cultural, community events and activities. Continually spurring economic development, the stadium transformed the area into walkable, vibrant waterfront neighborhood. McKissack led the Audi Field site feasibility study; the development of demolition plans; the master utility plan design, on-site environmental assessment and abatement; and the maintenance of  traffic and permitting. The scope of this major project included coordinating with planned construction by Pepco, Washington Gas and Verizon in a utility-dense project area. Utility lines were relocated to accommodate the new stadium development and ancillary facilities. Green infrastructure design was included effectively and efficiently to accomplish stormwater management requirements. McKissack also was responsible for leading the development and implementation of a voluntary environmental cleanup program.
