Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC)

The Center is dedicated to creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment that promotes personal growth, rehabilitation, and improved opportunities for success upon return to the community. Supporting this mission, McKissack managed improvements that enhanced the safety, functionality, and quality of the facility, including renovation of bathroom and shower facilities with flooring replacement and abatement; installation of fire-rated doors and upgraded life-safety systems in gymnasium spaces; modernization of the facility’s hot water infrastructure; and campus-wide energy-efficient LED lighting upgrades. These projects contributed to a more secure, healthy, and reliable environment for both residents and staff while supporting the Center’s educational, rehabilitative, and youth development programs. McKissack provided comprehensive construction management services, including scheduling, payment applications, change order management, quality control, and construction progress monitoring, ensuring successful project delivery while maintaining continuous facility operations.
