DC Plug
McKissack & McKissack is leading a complex, comprehensive and high-profile $500 million project for DC Plug to move critical electrical infrastructure in Washington, D.C. underground.
The District of Columbia Powerline Undergrounding (DC Plug) initiative is a partnership between the district and Pepco to reduce the number, cost and duration of service interruptions due to severe weather for equal, reliable and resilient distribution in all quadrants of the city. DC Plug is the first program of its kind to bury electrical distribution lines in Washington, DC. As a tri-venture partner of Capital Underground Partners, McKissack is providing program and project management services for the design and construction of 16 feeders throughout the city. Services include design and construction management; procurement oversight; project controls; scheduling and budget management; and risk identification and mitigation plans. The team is coordinating with Pepco because McKissack's role is to construct duct banks that will house Pepco's power lines.
