WSSC Purple Line Water Line Relocation
New water lines were installed to support the 16-mile MTA Purple Line from Bethesda to New Carrollton, with McKissack handling various civil engineering tasks.
The Purple Line will connect the Metrorail Red, Green and Orange Lines to MARC, Amtrak, and local bus service. The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission entered into an agreement with MTA to design and relocate water lines impacted by light rail construction. McKissack is responsible for providing technical reviews of water and sewer as-built engineering design documents, condition assessments of sewer and water lines, review of design and relocation construction drawings, verification of existing site conditions, permitting, inspections and various civil engineering related tasks. The goal of the program is to review engineering design documents to determine potential water, and sewer impacts to WSSC Water facilities associated with the proposed I-495/I-270 P3 Project alignment and MTA Purple Line construction.
