Pepco Holdings HQ Edison Place—Headquarter Program of Requirements, Consolidation and Restack
McKissack supported Pepco, an Exelon company, in consolidating its headquarters from 10 floors to 6, renovating approximately 210,000 SF to support higher density and more efficient space utilization.
The project was designed to increase workplace efficiency, support higher-density occupancy, and align with Exelon’s enterprise-wide workplace standards. McKissack provided interior and furniture design, workplace programming, and floor restacking services to optimize space utilization and functionality. The renovated headquarters includes executive offices, a boardroom, a variety of meeting and collaboration spaces, general office areas, a café, and upgraded IT infrastructure to support evolving operational and technology needs. Delivered on an accelerated one-year schedule, the project required close coordination and streamlined decision-making, particularly amid COVID-19 safety protocols. Interior renovations included selective demolition, new finishes, furniture procurement, and technology enhancements, while MEP upgrades addressed power distribution, lighting, life safety, and specialized mechanical requirements. The resulting workplace delivers an understated yet impactful design that supports both focused and collaborative work, improves access to natural light and technology, and reinforces Pepco’s brand and culture. The consolidated headquarters positions Pepco for long-term operational efficiency while providing a modern, flexible environment that supports its workforce and business objectives.
