Key responsibilities included constructability and budget analysis, work sequencing, and comprehensive project controls. Major infrastructure accomplishments included relocating 9th and L Streets (involving tunneling/bridging), stormwater and sediment control, and rerouting utilities across six blocks. The firm also oversaw demolition of the old center, construction of a new parking lot with a stormwater system, tenant improvements, and site redevelopment analysis. Following successful completion, McKissack led a design-build renovation of the 2 million square foot center. The renovation delivered modern office spaces for Events DC, including conference rooms and executive boardrooms upgraded to “Class A” standards. Features included 237 flexible furnishing arrangements, increased square footage, soundproofing, advanced audio/visual systems, and sustainable design principles. Modern amenities such as power outlets, USB ports, touch screens, and Wi-Fi were incorporated to enhance hospitality and networking. The Walter E.
