Walter E. Washington Convention Center Executive Conferencing & Office Expansion
After having provided program and construction management services for the completion of the new center, McKissack undertook a multi-phase interior design program to enhance the convention experience.
McKissack provided Interior Design & Construction Services to Events DC for the renovation of 34,010 SF of office space at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, including the modernization of the boardroom, 2 executive conference rooms, and office expansion. The convention center, at 2.3 million SF, is Washington DC's largest building, spanning six blocks from Mount Vernon Place to N Street NW and from 7th Street to 9th Street NW. This makes it one of the largest convention centers in the nation. The project required a total renovation of the office spaces, including capturing additional square footage, soundproofing, and integrating an enhanced audio/visual system and interface. In addition, selected executive boardrooms and conference rooms were enhanced with state-of-the-art technology and high-end "Class A" standards of finishes and functionality.
